Ahok asked to monitor Pertamina effort to lower oil and gas imports

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) President Commissioner Basuki Tjahaja “Ahok” Purnama is encouraged to focus on monitoring the state-owned oil and gas company’s effort to lower imports, particularly on oil fuel.

“The most important thing is to lower oil fuel imports,” said Special Staff Member to the SOE Minister Arya Sinulingga as quoted by Bisnis.com, Tuesday (26/11).

According to Mr Sinulingga, part of the effort to lower oil and gas imports is through encouraging the use of new and renewable energy and biofuel such as in the form of mandatory biodiesel use.

In addition, Mr Purnama is also expected to monitor refinery development master plan (RDMP) projects such as the one in Cilacap, Central Java and Pertamina’s planned partnership with Saudi Aramco, which commenced four years ago and still shows no certainty.

“Lowering oil fuel imports is Mr Ahok’s primary target. Building refineries is part of the effort to lower imports,” said Mr Sinulingga. (MS)
