JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) recorded that PT PLN (Persero) absorbed the largest part of state capital inclusion from 2015 to 2019 with 33%. The capital was used to develop electricity infrastructure as part of the company’s government-mandated assignment.

“In 2019 PLN required Rp 6.5 trillion of state capital inclusion. Rp 2.5 trillion has been realised for rural electricity services,” said SOE Minister Erick Thohir as quoted by Bisnis.com, Monday (2/12).

According to acting PLN CEO Sripeni Inten Cahyani, the 2019 state capital inclusion realisation of Rp 2.5 trillion received by the state-owned electricity company was used to develop electricity infrastructure in six regions: Sumatra, Java-Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, and Papua. The infrastructure consists of transmission, substations, and power plants.

“We were allocated Rp 6.5 trillion of state capital inclusion in 2019. As of October, we used Rp 2.5 trillion and there’s still Rp 4 trillion remaining,” said Ms Cahyani.

For 2020, Ms Cahyani added, PLN will receive Rp 5 trillion in state capital inclusion. Rp 3.7 trillion will be used to build transmissions and substations in Sumatra, western Java, central Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi; Rp 1 trillion to build power plants in eastern Java, Maluku, and Papua; and Rp 219 billion to build electricity distribution infrastructure and facilities in rural areas.
