Minister Airlangga prepares 7 steps to reduce deficit

JAKARTA. The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto prepared 7 economic transformation programs to increase export and encourage the growth of import-substituting industries.

"First, the implementation of B30 in 2020. Foreign exchange savings could reach US$ 4.8 billion," he said during the AEI Anniversary Celebration at the IDX Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (17/12).

Second, coal gasification. By developing gas production through coal, it is estimated that gas imports can be reduced by 1.08 million tons per year. That figure is equivalent to Rp 9 trillion per year. The government will also accelerate the construction of a coal gasification plant with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year.

"Third, strengthening of the TPPI (Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama). The TPPI will be restructured. Downstreaming will be continued," he added.

Fourth, the construction of a smelter (refining plant) for the downstreaming of mining products. Fifth, green refinery in Plaju, South Sumatra. Pertamina is developing palm oil-based green fuel in several of its refineries, especially in Plaju.

Sixth, the import duty policy. This policy is carried out to protect domestic products from the entry of imported products. Finally, the acceleration of international trade agreements such as RCEP, I-EU CEPA, GSP, BIA Taiwan. (AM/AR)
