Government to consolidate SOE pension funds to avoid ‘another Jiwasraya’

06 January 2020 11:06

JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) is planning to consolidate all SOE pension funds under one roof.

According to SOE Minister Erick Thohir, the policy is being pursued to prevent a default case similar to what is plaguing PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) from occurring in SOE pension funds.

“Going forward, SOE pension funds will be consolidated under one roof. We don’t want SOE employees to not be able to access their pensions after years of service,” said Mr Thohir as quoted by Bisnis.com, Sunday (5/1).

In addition, said Mr Thohir, the ministry is also committed to reforms by appointing credible figures with good track records to various SOE posts.

“I believe all SOE boards of directors share the same vision with me. We all want SOEs to be far better in terms of management,” said Mr Thohir. (MS)
