UAE will invest US$ 18.8 billion in energy projects in Indonesia

JAKARTA. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will invest in 14 energy projects, with a total investment of US$ 18.8 billion. In the first phase, UAE will invest US$ 3.9 billion in four projects, as stated by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan. 

The four projects were Balikpapan refinery, Balongan, the expansion of Inalum plant, and the construction of Solar Power Plant (PLTS) Cirata.

Those projects are part of the 14 projects that will be discussed in Abu Dhabi during President Joko Widodo's visit next week. "These four projects are the first ones," Luhut said in his office.

The Indonesian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Husin Bagis explained the investment in Balongan is done by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala will invest in the Balikpapan refinery. Then the construction of PLTS Cirata will be done in collaboration with Masdar, and h Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) will invest in the Inalum project. (AM/AR)
