UAE company to invest in renewable energy project in Indonesia

13 January 2020 13:58

JAKARTA. The Investment Coordinating Board (ICB) has announced that UAE-based renewable energy company Masdar Clean Energy will partner PT PLN (Persero) to develop a solar power plant in Indonesia.

According to ICB Head of Sectoral Promotion Imam Soejoedi, the project will be built at Cirata Dam, West Java. The investment, he said, met several brief delays.

"ICB Head has said that the government will speed up future investment permit process, especially in relation to renewable energy development," said Mr Soejoedi in an official statement received by IDNFinancials.com.

ICB has assessed that investment in the solar power plant sector needs to be accelerated to meet the energy mix target. Currently Indonesia's total energy mix is only at 10% out of the overall target of 23% by 2025. The solar power plant project is predicted to provide additional electricity of 5 MW. (KR/MS)
