Indonesia seeks to strengthen bilateral relations with Slovakia

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government believes that bilateral relations with Slovakia can be strengthened further.

“I believe there is still plenty of room for bilateral relations [between Indonesia and Slovakia] to grow further. In terms of investment, considering Slovakia’s expertise in agriculture and water management, we hope to see Slovakia’s presence in Indonesia more often,” said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati in her speech at the Slovak Republic National Day Reception at the JW Marriott Hotel, South Jakarta on Tuesday (21/1).

“We also would like to develop collaboration with prominent industries in Slovakia, especially in the fields of information technology, automation, and the internet of things.”

As part of the effort to increase bilateral relations between both countries, Ms Indrawati added, Indonesia and Slovakia need to make lecturer and student exchange more frequent with more scholarship allocation and develop vocational education schemes.

“I believe this will also contribute to human resource development as one of the Indonesian Government’s priorities. I am pleased to have it on records that Slovakian students participate in the Darmasiswa programme as well as the Indonesian Art and Culture Scholarship,” said Ms Indrawati. (MS)
