Grant Thornton Indonesia identifies three most popular investment types in 2020

JAKARTA - Grant Thornton Indonesia has identified three types of investment predicted to gain popularity, especially among young investors, in 2020.

“There are a lot of factors that influence millennials to start investing. The primary consideration is usually small capital and easy access through platforms that they use everyday,” said Grant Thornton Indonesia Managing Partner Johanna Gani in an official statement received by IDNFinancials.com, Thursday (23/1).

The three types of investment are peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, equity crowdfunding, and gold. According to Grant Thornton Indonesia, P2P lending has a higher growth rate compared to time deposits and mutual funds, with easier access through mobile apps or websites.

Meanwhile, equity crowdfunding is a financing solution particularly popular among MSMEs, including creative companies, to raise funds without having to list on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), whereas gold remains popular as a widely distributed investment instrument with numerous facilities on several e-commerce platforms.
