JAKARTA - PT Timah Tbk. (TINS) has conducted the groundbreaking for the construction of its US$ 80 million tin smelter, with PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) as the contractor, with the construction is expected to run for 19 months.
Corporate Secretary of TINS, Abdullah Umar, stated through a press release on Thursday (30/1) that the smelter will use the Ausmelt technology, the latest technology in tin refining.
He continued that the fund used for the construction came from the export credit agency (ECA) financing provided by Finnvera and Indonesian Eximbank.
The smelter is planned to have a production capacity of 40,000 tons per year. (ARM/AR)
