30 March 2020 15:00

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is completing the construction of the Tumbang Samba Bridge that connects Telok Village and Samba Danum Village, in Central Katingan District, Central Kalimantan Province. The work progress has now reached 99% and it is expected that by the end of March 2020 it will be completed.

"The more connected Central Kalimantan Cross will increase the economic growth of the region because around it there are plantations such as oil palm, rubber and mining. So it will speed up logistics transportation," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimoeljono.

The Tumbang Samba Bridge was built in 2016 with a multi-year contract value of Rp 298 billion. The bridge construction work was carried out by PT. Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, which also produces its own steel arch bridge, with Supervision Consultant PT. Perentjana Djaja that also produces its own steel arching bridge.

This bridge will later be used by vehicle from various regions, so that people no longer need to use ferry services to cross the Katingan River to transport their vehicles. (LM)
