Ministry of PUPR provides fiscal stimulus for housing sector

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has allocated a budget for housing subsidies fiscal stimulus amounting to Rp1.5 trillion for 175,000 Low-Income Community (MBR) households through the Home Ownership Credit (KPR) process.

Director General of Public Works and Housing Infrastructure Financing of the Ministry of PUPR Eko D. Heripoerwanto said the fiscal stimulus was in the form of allocating funds for Interest Difference Subsidies Interest (SSB) and still providing Down Payment Subsidies (SBUM) for mortgages.

"SSB and SBUM are expected to be operational on 1 April 2020 through the Implementing Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of PUPR. At present, 3 (three) banks have expressed interest namely BTN, BNI and BRI. PUPR Ministry is still opening up opportunities for other banks that want to work together, so that the MBR gets the widest opportunity to utilize the regional bank network to access housing subsidies," Heri explained in a press release.

Heri said, with the fiscal stimulus for housing subsidies through SSB and SBUM in 2020, the Government's overall target in providing housing finance assistance to 330,000 MBR households was expected to be achieved. (LM)
