JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has prepared a housing subsidy budget of Rp 1.5 trillion for 175,000 low-income households (MBR). The budget was taken from the additional budget prepared by the central government to face the impact of COVID-19.

As quoted from Setkab.go.id page on Wednesday (1/4), Director General of Infrastructure Financing for Public Works and Public Housing Eko D. Haripoerwanto said the subsidy will be given in the form of interest difference subsidies (SSB) and subsidies for advance payments (SBUM). "SSB and SBUM will be given through participating banks, namely BTN, BNI, and BRI," he said.

According to him, his party invites other banks to participate in the distribution of housing subsidies.

With the SSB scheme, the public can make mortgage payments with an interest of 5% per year for 10 years. Meanwhile, with the SBUM facility, customers will be given a subsidy for advance payments of Rp 4 million and Rp 10 million for those in Papua and West Papua. (LK/AR)
