JAKARTA - PT Palapa Satelit Nusa Sejahtera (PSNS) is scheduled to launch the Nusantara Dua Satellite to the Earth’s orbit this month to replace the Palapa D Satellite in serving broadband internet and broadcasting access.

“In early March 2020, we completed a satellite pre-shipment review which showed that the satellite could be launched in early April,” said PSNS President Director Johanes Indri Prijatmodjo in an official statement, Wednesday (1/4).

The satellite, which was manufactured by China Great Wall Industry Corp, has a capacity of 20 x 36 MHz with a C-band FSS transponder and 9.5 gigabytes per second (gbps), encompassing Indonesia as well as some areas in the Asia-Pacific region and Australia. In addition, the satellite is expected to last for up to 15 years.

“We hope the launch will go smoothly so that in June 2020 the satellite will be ready to enter service,” said Mr Prijatmodjo. (MS)
