JAKARTA. PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) will continue to expand its network in 1H 2020, despite the weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar lately.
The company chooses to continue development because, for lightweight development, the equipment needed was still being sent from abroad and bought using US dollars.
"Recent exchange rate fluctuations have not affected FREN's expansion plan in semester 1-2020," Director of FREN Djoko Tata Ibrahim was quoted as saying by Kontan.co, id on Tuesday (7/4).
However, the company will still recalculate its expansion plans. Currently, FREN's technology vendors have also not been able to provide a new delivery schedule due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in Indonesia or other parts of the world.
According to him, FREN will continue to maximize the capacity of the existing network. If conditions have not changed much, FREN will prepare to continue its expansion at the end of the year. (AM/AR)
