Reconstruction of Sukadana suspension bridge in Kuningan is targeted for completion in 4 months

JAKARTA - The reconstruction of Sukadana Bridge, Kuningan, West Java is expected to increase the connectivity of the people living in Ciawigebang and Japara, Kuningan District and Serdong District, Cirebon Regency.

Head of the Jakarta National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) VI Directorate General of Highways, Hari Suko Setiono said, the PUPR Ministry team had reviewed it directly in the field to prepare for demolition of the Sukadana Bridge as an asset security measure so that the condition of the bridge would not be further damaged.

"We also made a plan for handling both the watersheds, the safety structures and the reconstruction of the suspension bridge," Hari Suko said.

Permanent treatment efforts will be carried out by BBPJN VI Jakarta so that the bridge can function as before that connects Patapan Village and Loji Village which is an access between Indramayu Regency with Kuningan and Cirebon Regency. The bridge reconstruction implementation is targeted to be completed in 4 months.

For information, on 9 April 2020, at around 16:00 West Indonesia Time, the bridge foundation was eroded by the river flow, so that the bridge construction collapsed. The incident resulted in one citizen injured and no fatalities. The main access to the nearest village is also covered by landslides. (LM)
