Two fishing SOEs obtain Rp 30 billion loan

30 April 2020 08:44

JAKARTA - Two State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), PT Perikanan Nusantara (Perinus) and Perum Perikanan Indonesia (Perindo) received loan facilities worth Rp 30 billion for each company, which will be used to purchase fishery products from fishermen. This was done in response to the economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The signing of the loan facility agreement was carried out by the two SOEs and Marine And Fishery Business Capital Management Agency (LPMUKP) in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4).

Farida Mokodompit, Director of Perum Perindo, hopes that KKP's step in providing loan facility can be followed by other ministries and banks. "We hope this is the first stimulus that also will be given by other ministries and banks. "With a joint commitment to help fishermen, I think this is the best effort we can do to help fishermen during this outbreak," she said.

Both companies are estimated to be able to absorb 3,000 tons of fishery products. (LK/AR)
