JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) has extended the adjustment of banking operational and public service schedules to June 15, 2020. The policy, issued on March 24, was initially planned to end on Wednesday (27/5).

In a press release published on Wednesday, Head of BI's Communication Department Onny Widjanarko said the extension puts into consideration the latest development related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "The extension of the policy pays attention to aspects of humanity and public health, as well as the results of coordination with the Financial Services Authority and financial industry players," he said.

The schedule adjustment includes the operating hours for the Bank Indonesia Real-Time Gross Settlement (BI-RTGS) system, Bank Indonesia Scripless Securities Settlement System (BI-SSSS), Bank Indonesia Electronic Trading Platform (BI-ETP), Bank Indonesia National Clearing System (SKNBI), banking cash operations, and rupiah and foreign exchange monetary operations.

According to Mr Widjanarko, the policy will be evaluated periodically with consideration to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic. (LK/MS)
