JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics and telecommunications service providers are asked to improve the infrastructure for internet in rural and coastal areas, so that farmers and fishermen can access the internet and e-commerce.
In a press release published on Thursday (4/6), Erna Ummiyatul Chusnah, Member of the Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) said that there are still many people in those areas that are unable to use and access e-commerce due to the lack of internet network. "I believe that the e-commerce system is needed to reduce direct contact between people. E-commerce is also faster and more practical in its use," she said.
According to him, most people now choose to shop from home, thus forcing farmers and fishermen to open new channels to market their products, including e-commerce. (LK/AR)
