BRI Ventures seeks Rp 300 billion through early-stage fund

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk’s (BBRI) venture capital arm BRI Ventures is seeking to raise Rp 300 billion in the first close of its early-stage investment fund, Sembrani Nusantara.

As reported by DealStreet Asia, the fund will focus on investments in agro-maritime, education, healthcare, retail, and transportation sectors.

According to BRI Ventures CEO Nicko Widjaja, the VC firm hopes to make its first investment from Sembrani Nusantara within the next few months and seeks to invest in up to 15 startups in the next three years.

So far, BRI Ventures has made investments in Ayopop, Investree, Modalku, Nium, Payfazz, and Tanihub from its first fund derived from BRI’s balance sheet. (MS)
