08 July 2020 06:59

JAKARTA - The government will require importers to provide more data in import notification (PIB) submitted during an inspection in customs (post-border) starting from 25 August 2020. At present, importers only have to submit self-declaration documents when passing through the border.

As quoted from a press release published on Tuesday (7/7), Veri Anggrijono, Director General of Consumer Protection and Orderly Commerce (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade said the application of this policy was to increase the effectiveness of the inspection is customs.

According to the new regulation, importers are required to include a new import notification document (PIB) in the form of a number and date of the import approval document (PI) and surveyor report (LS).

Veri said that importers could be subject to administrative sanctions if they did not submit those documents, or provide inaccurate ones. (LK/AR)
