JAKARTA - PT Bio Farma (Persero), a pharmaceutical company, expects the production of the COVID-19 vaccine to begin in the first quarter of 2021, if the third phase of the clinical trials of the Sinovac China's vaccine run smoothly.
Honesti Basyir, President Director of PT Bio Farma, said that the clinical trial would be completed in January 2021. "If it goes well, Bio Farma will start production in the first quarter of 2021 and we have prepared a production facility with a maximum production capacity of 250 million doses, "he said during a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (21/7).
According to him, the reason for choosing Sinovac as a partner is because of the similarity of competencies.
So far, 2,400 Sinovac vaccines have been delivered to Indonesia for the purpose of clinical trial. (LK/AR)
