JAKARTA. PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is targeting the finalization of the cooperation to build a coal gasification facility with Pertamina and Air Product Chemicals can be completed by the end of this year, so that construction can be started in 2021.
This was conveyed by Mega Satria, Finance Director of PTBA, in its public expose held today. "We have previously signed with Pertamina and Air Products, we are still working to complete the agreement," said Satria.
The construction of the coal gasification plant, said Satria, is one of PTBA's efforts to run a coal downstream business, by producing 1.4 million tons of DME (Dimethyl Ether). The results of the gasification can be used as raw material to replace LPG.
Satria emphasized that the downstreaming efforts carried out by PTBA can help support PTBA's performance to remain stable, amid fluctuations in coal prices in the domestic and global markets. (KR/AR)
