Indonesian Embassy in Singapore seeks to attract investors to North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - The Embassy of Indonesia in Singapore brought together over 100 Singaporean investors and the North Sulawesi Provincial Government in a bid to increase investment in the province.

The meeting took place during the Road to Indonesia Investment Day 2020 webinar on Friday (4/9), held by the Embassy of Indonesia in partnership with Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Investment Coordinating Board’s (ICB) representation in Singapore.

In an official statement on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website, Indonesian Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Singapore Didik Eko Pujianto said North Sulawesi has great potential in terms of tourism and export commodities. According to ICB data, Singaporean investment in the province skyrocketed 122% year on year (yoy) to US$22.1 million through 54 projects in the second quarter (Q2) of 2020.

Three projects were presented in the webinar, namely the Bitung Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the Likupang SEZ, and the Bitung-Lembeh bridge. On the same occasion, North Sulawesi Deputy Governor Steven O.E. Kandouw highlighted the strategic distances between the province and major international ports such as Busan in South Korea, Hong Kong and Shanghai in China, Los Angeles in the US, and Tokyo in Japan.
