JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communications and Informatics' Human Resources Research and Development Agency is providing digitalisation training for former Indonesian migrant workers (IMWs).

"The training programme is designed to equip ex-migrant workers so that they can use information technology to enter the Industry 4.0 era," said the ministry's HR R&D Agency Head Basuki Yusuf Iskandar at the opening of the Digitalisation Training for Ex-Indonesian Migrant Workers programme, held virtually on Monday (7/9).

According to Mr Iskandar, former IMWs are well-equipped to initiate business innovation using information technology and already possess the spirit of entrepreneurship.

"Ex-migrant workers have remarkable spirit, as proven by their courage to work overseas. Their abilities will be enhanced further through this training," Mr Iskandar said.

The training programme is held virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Through the programme, Mr Iskandar said, former IMWs are expected to contribute to driving the economy in rural areas.

"Through digitalisation, we hope businesses in rural areas will blossom, particularly in terms of promotion and marketing on a wider scale," he concluded. (MS)
