FLORENCE - The Embassy of Indonesia in Rome explored economic, trade, and investment partnership opportunities in Florence, Italy through a series of meetings with several stakeholders on 10 September 2020.

According to Deputy Indonesian Ambassador to Italy J.S. George Lantu, this was part of Indonesia's economic diplomacy effort, which managed to identify opportunities for Indonesian products in the Italian market.

"The Embassy team's effort managed to identify opportunities and the next concrete measures in order for Indonesian products to penetrate the Italian market," Mr Lantu said in an official statement on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website, Monday (14/9).

On the occasion, Mr Lantu and Florence City Councillor Marco Del Panta Ridolfi declared their commitment to promote Indonesian agricultural products in the city and include Indonesia in Florence Mayor Dario Nardella's upcoming visit to Asia in 2021.

In addition, representatives from the Embassy also held a meeting with Dr Niccolo Persiani from the University of Florence's Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine to discuss health system investment opportunities and the marketing of Indonesian pharmaceutical products in Italy.

The series of visits were the first undertaken by the Embassy since the end of lockdown in Italy during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Such activities are expected to contribute to the Indonesian economy during the pandemic. (MS)
