JAKARTA. The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will renovate 972 school buildings, with a budget of Rp1.69 trillion by the end of this year.
Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), said the plan was in accordance with President Joko Widodo's instructions. With this program, the Indonesian government is optimistic that its human resource development program can run smoothly. "The next generation must be better because the facilities are now better," Hadimuljono said in a press release.
For information, the 972 school buildings renovated by the end of this year consist of 780 regular schools and 192 madrasa schools. The budget prepared for the renovation of regular schools is Rp1.35 trillion and Rp339 billion for madrasa schools.
The PUPR Ministry said 215 schools and madrasas have been renovated by September 2020, equivalent to 51.52% of the target. (KR/AR)
