JAKARTA - The results of the Business Activity Survey (SKDU) indicate that business activities improved in the third quarter of 2020. This is reflected in the weighted net balance (WNB) in the third quarter of 2020 of -5.97%, an improvement from -35.75% in the second quarter of 2020.
Improvement in business activities occurred in all economic sectors. Improvements in the manufacturing sector, the trade sector, hotels & restaurants, the transportation & communication sector and the finance, real estate & corporate services sector were supported by the implementation of New Adaptation (IMR) in various regions. Meanwhile, improvements in the Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries sectors were supported by the weather.
In line with the performance of business activities, used production capacity and use of labor in the third quarter of 2020 were recorded to be higher than in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, the financial condition of the business activity from the aspects of liquidity and profitability also showed improvement in the third quarter of 2020, with improved access to credit.
In the fourth quarter of 2020, respondents predicted that business activities would record positive performance with WNB of 2.12%. Based on the economic sector, the increase occurred in the majority of economic sectors, especially the financial sector, the real estate & corporate services sector, the trade sector, hotels & restaurants, and the transportation & communication sector. Business activities that are getting stronger in the fourth quarter of 2020 are in line with optimism for the implementation of AKB which can boost public demand. (LM)
