JAKARTA - PT Bio Farma (Persero) will produce 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine per year in collaboration with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) starting at the end of December 2021. This was conveyed by Honesti Basyir, President Director of Bio Farma in Jakarta on Thursday (15/10).
He said that his party was trusted by CEPI to produce the vaccine with the available platforms "Bio Farma was selected as one of the potential manufacturers to produce COVID-19 vaccine by CEPI," he said.
Bio Farma, he said, has received prequalification from the World Health Organization (WHO) as a vaccine manufacturer. The prequalification is necessary for the company to get Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) qualification, so that its vaccine can be used in 150 countries.
According to him, the production of CEPI vaccine will not interfere with the production of other vaccines that have been running. (LK/AR)
