Multi Bintang aims to use 100% renewable energy by 2025

JAKARTA - PT Multi Bintang Indonesia Tbk (MLBI), manufacturer of Bintang and Heineken beer brands in Indonesia, aims to use 100% renewable energy by 2025 to reduce carbon footprints.

The target is included in the company's Sustainability Report 2019, which in general depicts how the company integrates all business activities and collaborates with all stakeholders in numerous initiatives.

"For nine decades, we have brewed and served Bir Bintang, Indonesia's most iconic beer brand. We are committed to always serving the best quality products to our consumers by positioning the Earth and the people in it as the centre of our company," said Multi Bintang Corporate Affairs Director Ika Noviera in an official statement received by IDNFinancials.com, Monday (19/10).

"Therefore, we have prepared an ambitious target for this company as part of our journey towards sustainability, and we always make the effort to create a meaningful impact."

According to the report, in order to reduce carbon emissions Multi Bintang will return and reuse 97.34% of its packaging such as used bottles, cans, and barrels and recycle 98% of byproducts such as spent grains, sludges, and rice husk ashes.

In addition, the company has also declared its commitment to water resource protection in Cisadane River, West Java through the Watershed-based Integrated Restoration Management programme with Nusantara Nature Conservation Foundation and waste management in Bali; Mojokerto, East Java; and Tangerang, Banten.

"We believe that our products must be enjoyed responsibly, and it's important for us to create a positive environment for our consumers," Ms Noviera added. (MS)
