JAKARTA - PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) has completed the development of the Kendari Bay Bridge, which has a contract value of Rp 800 billion. The bridge, which connects Kendari's Kota Lama to Poasia Subdistrict, was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on Thursday (22/10).

According to PTPP CEO Novel Arsyad, the bridge will facilitate access between Kota Lama and Poasia, which are separated by the Kendari Bay. "The company is very proud that it was trusted by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to build the bridge, and that it managed to complete the project on time," he said on Friday (23/10).

The development of the Kendari Bay Bridge took five years with multi-year financing and a maintenance period of three years. The bridge is 1,348 metres long and 20 metres wide and equipped with four lanes.

The bridge, Mr Arsyad said, was developed using 90% local materials except cable bearing and expansion joints. The project was co-developed with PT Nindya Karya (Persero). (LK/MS)
