JAKARTA. According to a report released by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), investment realization during the third quarter (Q3) 2020 was recorded at Rp209 trillion, 8.9% higher than its record in the previous quarter (QoQ).
Bahlil Lahadalia, Head of BKPM, claimed that the growth in investment realization during Q3 2020 was supported by the mitigation measures taken by the Indonesian government to anticipate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. "This is a positive signal. Foreign investors are starting to believe in the policies that have been implemented by the Indonesian government," said Lahadalia in a press release last weekend.
For the record, investment realization in Q3 2020 consisted of domestic investments (PMDN) of Rp102.9 trillion or 49.2% of total investment. Then the remaining 50.8% (Rp106.1 trillion) is foreign investments (PMA).
Java is still the favourite investment destination in Q3 2020, just like the previous quarter. Investment realization in Java reached 54.5% of the total investment realization (Rp112.1 trillion), while the remaining 45.5% or Rp93.6 trillion was made outside Java.
Cumulatively, investment realization during January-September 2020 has reached Rp611.6 trillion, equivalent to 74.8% of the target set by the government for 2020 (Rp817.2 trillion). (KR/AR)
