House monitors realisation of economic recovery programme

06 November 2020 10:12

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives is prioritising the monitoring of the national economic recovery programme to avoid budget deviation, said House Commission XI Deputy Chair Amir Uskara.

According to Mr Uskara, the government is trying to accelerate economic recovery realisation, especially in terms of social protection and public health amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the programme needs to be monitored in order to avoid budget deviation.

"The House continues to monitor this, especially in terms of social protection, to restrain poverty rate," Mr Uskara said in an official statement, Friday (6/11).

The Central Statistics Agency recently announced that Indonesia's economic growth contracted by -3.49% in the third quarter of 2020. Under such condition, Mr Uskara added, government spending needs to be prioritised. "The House supports the national economic recovery programme to avoid a continuation of recession in 2021," he said. (LK/MS)
