JAKARTA - PT Inocycle Technology Group Tbk (INOV), as the only listed company that recycles plastic bottle waste into Recycled Polyester Staple Fiber (Re-PSF), is the core of a variety of industrial raw materials ranging from Automotive, Construction, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Clothing, and Household, continue to perform business efficiency during pandemic. Through its subsidiary, PT Plasticpay Teknologi Daurulang which engaged in collecting plastic bottle waste using a digital platform/mobile application called PlasticPay.
PlasticPay seeks to change the perspective and behavior of Indonesian people in seeing plastic bottle waste, in addition to INOV group's efforts for advancing its business digitalization, especially for the millennial segment. PlasticPay has launched ‘Collect Bottles, Get Rewarded’ campaign where each individual who collects plastic bottle waste through PlasticPay will be rewarded with points. These points can later be cashed out, exchanged for discount coupons, and even can be donated.
Director of INOV, Victor Choi said, “Since it was first launched in July 2019 until now, PlasticPay has managed to collect 3,904 kilograms or 245,952 pieces of plastic bottle waste. This is INOV's effort to secure plastic bottle waste directly from users, because so far INOV has been collecting plastic bottle waste in a traditional way, namely through collectors. In terms of numbers, it is relatively small because it is still in the development stage, therefore the development of PlasticPay by INOV continues to be encouraged so that more plastic bottle waste is collected.”
INOV through PlasticPay has provided a plastic bottle waste collection point named Mini Collection Point (MCP) in Tangerang Regency and South Tangerang City, by collaborating with several educational institutions, houses of worship and Islamic boarding schools, couples of village officials, also office buildings. On November 10, 2020, PlasticPay provided MCP in the BSD City Modern Market and completed 40 MCPs that PlasticPay provided to collect plastic bottle waste directly from its users. (LM)
