Government spending reaches Rp 2,041.8 trillion as of October 2020

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance recorded that government spending as of October 2020 grew 13.6% to Rp 2,041.8 trillion, 74.5% of the set ceiling.

As of October, ministry and government agency spending reached Rp 725.7 trillion, consisting of Rp 201.1 trillion in personnel expenditure, Rp 264 trillion in goods expenditure, Rp 89.7 trillion in capital expenditure, and Rp 170.9 trillion in social assistance expenditure.

“Personnel expenditure dropped 1.7% while goods expenditure grew 11.7%, capital expenditure dropped 11%, and social assistance expenditure grew rapidly by 86.3%, which aimed to protect the public and reflected our abilities to cushion the negative impact of COVID-19 on poverty,” Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in an official statement on the Ministry of Finance’s website, Monday (23/11).

Meanwhile, government spending for the national economic recovery programme during the period grew 26.8% to Rp 618.2 trillion, while spending for the Regional Financial Transfers and Village Funds programme grew 3.1% to Rp 698 trillion.

“The fast acceleration of goods expenditure in the third quarter shows that all ministries and government agencies carried out various efforts expected to revive the economy,” Ms Indrawati said. (MS)
