JAKARTA. Dutch plastic pipe manufacturer Wavin BV plans to invest US$125 million (around Rp 1.7 trillion) in Indonesia.
This was announced by Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Chief Bahlil Lahadalia during an official visit to the Netherlands. "We are offered Wavin an opportunity to build a factory in the Batang Integrated Industrial Area," he told representatives from Wavin.
In a press release, Mr Lahadalia said that Wavin has set a target to commence production in 2022. Wavin's investment, he added, can create around 400-500 jobs.
According to BKPM's data, the Netherlands is the sixth largest source of foreign investment in Indonesia in the past five years. From 2015 to September 2020, Dutch investment in Indonesia is estimated to have been worth US$8.8 billion.
Wavin has produced plastic pipes since 1955. It also manufacturers environmentally-friendly pipes for drainages and waterways. (KR/MS)
