Luhut invited JBIC to invest in NIA

JAKARTA - Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) will invest through Nusantara Investment Authority (NIA), a sovereign wealth fund management institution in Indonesia. This was conveyed by Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, in a press release quoted on Friday (4/12).

He said that the promise was revealed after a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister’s advisor, Izumi Hiroto, at the Japanese Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo, Japan, yesterday (3/12). The meeting was also attended by Governor of JBIC Maeda Tadashi, Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, and Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi.

According to Coordinating Minister Pandjaitan, his visit to Japan was to invite more potential investors from there to invest in Indonesia. Through the NIA institution, he said, investors are given the flexibility to invest with transparent fund management. (LK/VA)
