Hery Gunardi appointed as CEO of Bank Syariah Indonesia

JAKARTA - Hery Gunardi has been appointed by the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises as the CEO of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, which was formed from a merger of three state-owned sharia-compliant banks. This was confirmed at an EGM on Tuesday (15/12).

In the EGM the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises approved the structure of the bank's board of directors, which consists of a CEO, two deputy CEOs, and directors of wholesale and transaction banking, retail banking, sales and distribution, information technology and operations, risk management, compliance and human capital, and finance and strategy.

Mr Gunardi had a long stint at PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI); he was the bank's Deputy CEO prior to his appointment to Bank Syariah Indonesia. Bank Syariah Indonesia was formed from a merger of three banks, namely Bank Mandiri Syariah, BRI Syariah, and BNI Syariah. (LK/MS)
