16 December 2020 14:40

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Arifin Tasrif, expressed his full commitment to support the upstream oil and gas transformation in Indonesia, which currently is being pursued by SKK Migas (Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities).

Tasrif said the upstream oil and gas transformation could indirectly impact national economy. "This transformation is expected to significantly increase oil and gas production nationwide," he said in a press release.

On Monday (15/12), Tasrif attended a meeting of SKK Migas to discuss oil and gas production commitments for 2021. SKK Migas has also ensured that the work program will be in accordance with national long-term plan, with an oil production target of 1 million barrels per day and natural gas of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030.

Meanwhile, Tutuka Ariadji, Director General of Oil and Gas, said that the national long-term target would be supported by a number of strategies, starting from digitisation, strategic cooperation, and the use of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology.

"The source of failure must also be reviewed, because sometimes it is also the key to success," said Ariadji. (KR/VA)
