JAKARTA - The risk of critical illness is still a big threat to society. In Indonesia, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 70 percent of deaths in Indonesia are caused by non-communicable critical illnesses. Responding to these conditions, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) in collaboration with PT AIA FINANCIAL (AIA) launched the Maxi Protection Plus (Maxi Plus) health insurance product.

Sainthan Satyamoorthy, President Director of AIA, said, "Solutions for protection as well as financial planning are currently a major need for the community. As awareness of insurance increases, the public has also begun to prepare comprehensive protection including against the risk of critical illness. Especially looking at the unhealthy lifestyle factors that trigger critical illness. Together with BCA, AIA continues to strive to launch innovations to help millions of families in Indonesia live healthier, longer, better lives."

Maxi Plus is designed to meet the needs of comprehensive health protection with protection from the early stages of critical illness to the chronic stage, monthly benefits (guaranteed) in case of critical illness - through AIA Vital Care riders. Maxi Plus is also equipped with a choice of Premier Hospital and Surgical Extra (PHS Extra) riders that provide health protection for various diseases including outpatient benefits for tropical diseases (Dengue Fever, Typhus, Chikungunya, and Malaria). Another advantage is that it provides a high and maximum protection value with a total limit of up to Rp 65 billion.

Referring to the 2019 AIA Segmentation Study research, as many as 68% of Indonesians are worried that they will not be able to bear the cost of treatment for critical illnesses and as many as 69% of people are concerned about a decline in living standards if diagnosed with a critical illness due to high medical costs. Meanwhile, according to the 2016 BPS survey, the preparation of health costs is not yet a top priority for monthly expenditures in Indonesian society, the share of health costs only reaches 2.40% of income. Whereas ideally, the portion of health costs that need to be prepared is at least 10% of income. Therefore, Maxi Plus is here to meet the needs of Indonesian families for health protection. (LM)
