22 January 2021 08:02

JAKARTA - Domestic economic growth this year is expected to move up gradually after experiencing a slowdown last year. This was conveyed by Erwin Haryono, Executive Director, Head of the Communication Department (BI) in a release quoted on Friday (22/1).

He conveyed improvement indications in the economy this year can be seen in growth of exports and imports in December 2020. "Manufacturing PMI (Purchasing Manager's Index) is improving and sales and consumer expectations are still good," he said.

According to him, the implementation of national health and vaccination protocols in January 2021 will help boost the domestic economy. The five economic policies made by the government, such as opening the productive sector, fiscal stimulus, channeling banking credit, monetary stimulus, and digitizing the economy, he said, will support economic growth.

"Bank Indonesia will continue to strengthen synergies with the government so that policies that have been implemented will be more effective in restoring the national economy," he concluded. (LK/LM)
