JAKARTA. PT Pertamina (Persero) has just launched a VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier), or a large oil carrier, with a capacity of 2.04 million barrels.

Iman Rachman, Director of Strategy, Portfolio and Business Development at Pertamina, said that the ship will help the company improve its competitiveness in the oil market. "Not only in the regional sector, but also internationally," said Rachman in a release received by idnfinancials.com.

Pertamina will use the ship to meet the needs of imported cargo transportation. In addition, this ship will also be used to support the supply chain for Pertamina's products.

For information, this ship, which was built in 2018, will be operated by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS). PIS itself is one of Pertamina's subsidiaries which runs the shipping and sea transportation business, with the Free on Board (FOB) scheme. (KR/LM)
