JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) is targeting an increase of up to 100% in the use of the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS) system this year compared to 2020. This was conveyed by Erwin Haryono, Executive Director, Head of the BI Communication Department in a press release quoted on Thursday (11/2).

He conveyed that this year the QRIS system will be used by 12 million merchants, up from 6 million merchants in 2020. "This is in line with the efforts to restore the National Economy and the use of QRIS to support the proud program made in Indonesia," he said.

According to him, the QRIS payment system has been widely used in the tourism, travel, transportation, parking, e-retribution, local government, and social donation sectors. Previously, this payment system has been applied to various small communities in modern and traditional markets. "The use of QRIS is supported by 52 licensed payment system service providers," he said. (LK/LM)
