President Jokowi inaugurates Tukul Dam in Pacitan, East Java

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurating the Tukul Dam in Pacitan Regency, East Java Province (Jatim), Sunday (14/2). The construction of the Tukul Dam is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) which aims to increase the water storage capacity in the surrounding area so that irrigation water supply will be maintained.

President Jokowi said that the Tukul Dam has a very important role for Pacitan Regency, including irrigating rice fields or irrigation water, supplying raw water, and controlling floods. "With a capacity of 8.7 million cubic meters, this dam can provide enormous benefits, namely irrigating 600 hectares of rice fields, so it will increase the cropping index from one rice crop and one other crop, to two rice crops and one other crop," said President Jokowi.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the PUPR Ministry continues to support the national water and food security program, one of which is by increasing the number of water storage and supply in Indonesia through the construction of 65 dams.

In addition to providing benefits for irrigation covering an area of ​​600 hectares, said Minister Basuki, the Tukul Dam functions to reduce flooding by 42.21 m3 / second, potentially as a source of 2x132 KW Microhydro Power Plant (PLTMH), conservation of water resources, and tourism.

The Tukul Dam was built from 2013 to 2021 with a State Budget of IDR 904.4 billion. PT. Brantas Abipraya (Persero) was appointed as PT. KSO, PT. Mettana, PT. Anugrah, Kridapradana, PT. Bina Karya (Persero) and the supervision consultant. (LM)
