Ministry of Finance handed over a plantation worth IDR 6.1 trillion

JAKARTA – Ministry of Finance assigned the land management of 4,093-hectare chocolate plantation to the Government of South Manokwari Regency, West Papua. The land could then be altered to provide employment opportunities for the locals.

Rionald Silaban, the General Director of State Assets, stated that the plantation’s sale value reached IDR 6.1 trillion. “The land was a part of assets of the Irian Jaya Joint Development Foundation (IJJDF),” Silaban explained during a press conference, quoted on Thursday (15/4).

According to his words, the land was located in Ransiki Village, Ransiki District, South Manokwari, West Papua. It could be utilised to develop government and public facilities.

Markus Waran, the Regent of South Manokwari, appreciated the support from the Ministry of Finance. “The plantation land could open many employment opportunities for the people, including providing income for the locals to afford education,” Waran added. (LK/ZH)
