KPPU highlights the falling competitiveness index of logistic businesses

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Competition Commission (lit. Komisi Pengawas Persaingan Usaha/KPPU) calls for an effective policy in the logistic sector to create a healthy business competition in Indonesia. Until recently, the business competitiveness index (lit. Indeks Persaingan Usaha/IPU) of the logistic sector was 4.64 points lower than the average IPU of all economic sectors in Indonesia in 2020.

Kodrat Wibowo, the Head of KPPU, claims that there is a need to develop a logistic sector with strong competitiveness amidst the current global contest. “The competition would be so fierce that it would wipe out uninventive companies,” Wibowo warns during the launch of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) study in Indonesia, quoted Friday (28/5).

According to Wibowo, logistic development research is needed to respond to the increased digital transaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study result would be utilised to direct and support the growth of the logistic sector in Indonesia. (LK/ZH)
