JAKARTA - PT NFC Indonesia Tbk (NFCX), subsidiary of PT M Cash Integrasi Tbk (MCAS), joins hands with PT SiCepat Ekspres Indonesia (SiCepat) to enter Electric Vehicle (EV) business by forming a joint venture (JV) company, PT Energi Selalu Baru (ESB).

This company focuses on the distribution of electric motorcycles, battery exchange and supporting services. PT Digital Mediatama Maxima Tbk (DMMX) and PT Telefast Indonesia Tbk (TFAS) will take minority stakes in ESB by providing commercial, infrastructural and ecosystem supports. ESB will also take majority stake in an EV manufacturing company, PT Volta Indonesia Semesta (Volta).

ESB aims to improve the take up and assimilation of EV usage in Indonesia by providing a seamless electric motorcycle distribution and battery exchange service, empowered by digital platforms and Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology.

Willty Awan, Director of Volta, explained, “Volta is pleased to partner with NFCX and tech affiliates within the MCAS Group to bring EV adoption in Indonesia to the next level. With MCAS Group tech capabilities and extensive partner networks, we believe we can vastly improve the awareness, acceptance, and accessibility of EV for the mass market. With that, we can bring an excellent after sales service to our customers with the value-added conveniences enabled by NFCX’s digital platform."

As an information, Volta will be the key production house of the electric motorcycles for ESB with NFCX providing and administering the digital platform for the vehicle registration and management, payments and rewards. ESB will leverage on SiCepat and TFAS logistics and network capabilities to plan and deploy the battery exchange station. The battery exchange network expansion will also utilize DMMX’s vast retail network of stores across Indonesia. (LM)
