JAKARTA. PT AKR Coporindo Tbk (AKRA) plans to launch new BP-AKR gas stations in 20 locations by investing approximately USD 18 million to 20 million.

The Director of AKR Corporindo, Suresh Vembu, discloses that the fund used for the BP-AKR gas station expansion in Jabodetabek and Surabaya comes from AKRA and BP.

“Our estimation calls for an investment of USD 18 million to 20 million to build 20 gas stations,” Vembu confirmed during a Meet & Greet with PT AKR Corporindo Tbk & PT Krakatau Steel Tbk. The event was held virtually by CGS CIMB on Thursday (1/7).

Out of those 20 gas stations, 11 of them would be established in Jabodetabek, while the rest would be located in the rest area of KM 72A Cipularang toll to Bandung (one station) and Surabaya (four stations). Vembu reveals that the said expansion plan for this year is a part of AKRA’s master plan to open 350 gas stations.

According to his notes, Vembu also points out that the ratio of gas stations to the Indonesian population only reaches 1:45,000, while other countries in ASEAN have reached ratios of 1:15,000. (AM/ZH)
