Bungaran Saragih is now the President Commissary of Palma Serasih

JAKARTA – The stockholders of PT Palma Serasih Tbk (PSGO), an oil palm plantation company, appoint Bungaran Saragih, the former Minister of Agriculture, as their President Commissary.

Astrida Niovita Bachtiar, the Director of PT Palma Serasih Tbk (PSGO), states that this appointment is arranged during the Annual General Shareholders Meeting on Wednesday (30/6). “[He] replaces Sohut Chairil, whose term effectively ends during the said meeting yesterday,” Bachtiar explains.

Saragih used to take office as the Minister of Agriculture in 2000-2004, during the presidential term of Abdurrahman Wahid and Megawati Soekarnoputri. He also acts as a lecturer for Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), majoring in Agriculture Economy. He earned his degree from the Faculty of Agriculture of IPB and completed his doctoral degree at North Caroline State University, US.

As of December 2020, this company planted palms on 35,200-hectare land. It consists of a nucleus estate of 75% and a smallholding of 25% while operating 90 crop yield collecting sites. The nucleus and smallholding areas generate 360,206 tonnes, increasing 15% from 2019 yields of 313,581 tonnes. (LK/ZH)
