CIMB Niaga Syariah optimizes sharia card during the pandemic

JAKARTA - The Sharia Business Unit of PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (CIMB Niaga Syariah) continues to encourage customers to optimize transactions using the Sharia Card digitally. This is done to support customers so that they can meet various needs in an easy, healthy, and safe way in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of June 30, 2021, CIMB Niaga Syariah recorded outstanding financing from the Syariah Card of Rp893 billion, up 13% Year-on-Year. In addition, CIMB Niaga Syariah is also listed as one of the Islamic banks with the largest Syariah Card users in Indonesia, amounting to 463 thousand, with a market share of around 62% industrially.

Director of Sharia Banking CIMB Niaga Pandji P. Djajanegara said, in the midst of a pandemic, Sharia Cards can grow because they are supported by increased shopping transactions through online or e-commerce platforms. This is in line with changes in people's spending patterns that are more towards digital and the Syariah Card is chosen as the source of funds for various types of transactions.

As is known, CIMB Niaga Syariah has two Syariah Card products, namely Syariah Gold and Syariah Platinum. The two cards are expected to be a solution for the public to facilitate various transactions in accordance with Sharia principles based on three contracts, namely kafalah (guarantee), qardh (loans), and ijarah (providing services).

Pandji explained, CIMB Niaga Syariah also continues to improve customer experience for Syariah Card users through the OCTO Mobile digital banking application. Various features and services can be accessed, such as converting transactions into installments with 0% margin for 3 and 6 months for transactions starting from IDR 300 thousand. (LM)
