Gov’t aims to secure IDR 1,804.7 trillion in national income in 2022

JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo announces the national income target of 2022 of IDR 1,840.7 trillion alongside the economic growth of 5% to 5.5%. The President declares this objective during his speech in the presentation of the 2022 State Budget Bill and Financial Note in the Plenary of the House of Representatives in Jakarta today (16/8).

It is further mentioned that the target would be attained through tax revenue of IDR 1,506.9 trillion and non-tax revenue of IDR 333.2 trillion. In order to hit this goal, the government would optimise the tax revenue and reform the non-tax revenue management.

The tax reformation would be actualised by extending the tax revenue base, boosting the tax compliance ratio, and improving tax management and administration. In addition to these, the tax incentive policy applied by the government is envisioned to accelerate economic recovery, encourage investment, and transform the national economy.

According to the President, the economic growth target would still need to put the COVID-19 pandemic into consideration. Therefore, the government would exert its resources, scientific analysis, and expert review to deal with this pandemic.

“The solid economic growth rate indicates the adequate economic recovery, which would be supported by increases in investment and export following a structural reformation,” Widodo further claims. (LK/ZH)
